Broadband suddenly not working

Hi guys. My broadband suddenly stopped working this afternoon and the ISP said they did all they could and I should book and engineer. Before doing so I was wondering if there is any telecommunications engineer here that could tell me that if I manage to put back one of the wires (2nd from bottom of socket where the slot was initially empty)
to the empty slot and still no internet i'd have to get the engineer in? Thanks

How did the wire become disconnected?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

When I open the master socket the wire was already dislodged (only opened coz the ISP asked me to try the test socket)0

You only need numbers 2 and 5 connected. Everything else isn't required (number 3 is a legacy connector for older phones, not needed in a cordless DECT setup, and number 4 was only ever connected to make it look nice, doesn't actually do anything).https://telecomgreen.co.uk/home-phone-repair/phone-socket-wiring-bt-master-socket-the-orange-and-white-and-other-mysteries/ and https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Technical/Telecoms/Telephone Wiring.htm might be of interest.

Thanks Neil, so from your point of view it doesn't look like a wiring issue with the master socket then? I'm still baffled how the broadband suddenly stopped working when I didnt touch the router nor the socket at all!0

If you haven't touched anything and you've done the usual things like restart the router, change the filter (unless that's a pre-filtered faceplate) and (if possible) tried another router, then a line fault is BT's responsibility to fix. Also check for a dial-tone on your landline phone. No dial tone is usually a line issue so that's for BT to come and fix.
