Dealers contract - buying used car

Hi all, I've reserved a used car online from a reputable local used car dealer. They've sent me an order form/contract via email but I've never bought from a dealer so this is new to me.

Couple of things on the contract that I'm not sure about:

'I have been made aware that this vehicle may have been company owned, used for hire or for driving tuition and has not been sold as a single user vehicle'. Is that normal?

It also has a 'warranty opt out discount', although the price I'm paying is on the higher end of the going rate for this car and paying the £400 more would give me 12 months warranty but also make it pretty overpriced.

Thanks

Are you surprised that it may have been?
They aren't saying it HAS been, just that it MAY have been. Because, quite likely, they simply don't know either way.
It also has a 'warranty opt out discount', although the price I'm paying is on the higher end of the going rate for this car and paying the £400 more would give me 12 months warranty but also make it pretty overpriced.
£X is the price for the car.
£X+400 is the price for the car plus warranty.
    Choose.
(It's exactly the same thing as saying £Y-400 for car, £Y for car+warranty, of course.)
  • Sorry, should've been clearer... does the 'warranty opt out discount' mean I forfeit my statutory rights when buying? ie if there's a fault the first 30 days and the 6 month thing?

No. Even if there's a ginormous flashing neon sign saying "NO CONSUMER RIGHTS BEYOND THIS POINT!", you simply cannot forfeit them by agreement with the vendor.

It just means the warranty is a £400 option.
