Thank you Four_Seasons. Well done getting so much done. Doesn’t it feel good to fill up bin bags of items to get out of your home? I can see that I need to create and maintain more routines from this house move.
I hope your weekend is going well x

My plans took a bit of a detour yesterday caused mainly by the bin strike and not being able to clear away any rubbish this weekend.
My plans today are to organise the house so that’s it’s easy for the guys (it will be 3 men coming to take it all) to do their job. Only the box room will be the difficult area for them as I just don’t have the time or strength to deal with that room alone.

I also need to have a general clean to make sure I get behind and under everything so the dust bunnies aren’t lurking to attack.

I hope everyone is having a more restful day. Also, good luck and best wishes for anyone who goes back to their job from furlough tomorrow. I have a couple of friends in different job categories who return to work tomorrow.

    You're doing a great job MT 😼👍
Glad the radio show went well 🎧🎤
Annoying about bin strikes . Where I am , we have fortnightly collections of rubbish and recycling and we have big containers on wheels at the end of the block . No strikes so far🤞.
I have to say that regarding furlough etc, the messages seem to be mixed and confusing and some of my friends are still waiting for jab no.2  I then hear a few weeks back that fare increases happened last month instead of January . My friend who is working from home in Farnham and travels into London rarely , says that's not the case. Bizarre .
Oh well , I'm rambling . Keep going and all should be well
    I'll leave it there 🌥...

Thanks AC. I’m starting to feel like I can see a real difference now.
I agree with you that I think we still get mixed and vague messages about it all. I’ve been so lucky as my company have been very clear on what they can offer and what they expect so I haven’t been as stressed as many.
I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday and staying healthy.

Yesterday I think I got most of the things done that I wanted to.  I did get up at 5am this morning to have a wander through and also to pull the fridge freezer out.  I do that every few months, but for some reason it was particularly murky behind there this time.  At least I got to it before they had to deal with it.
I stress so much about having people in my house, especially when they're going through things and I'm not there with them. I don't worry about them doing anything they shouldn't, I just get all discombobulated at the thought.  I could never be a criminal.  Being dragged into an interview room while officers get into my home and go through things without me being able to prepare first would have me confessing faster than they could get my door open!

So now I'm confined to my living room, but it gives me a chance to get some computer work done. I'm not working my normal job today so I can be on hand to answer questions and just be available as needed.  If I'd worked I'd have had to attend lots of meetings.

YNAB has been checked and is on track.  I did have to buy some emergency curtains as I washed the ones I have in the living room and they managed to escape the pillow case I put them in and then were badly ripped up.  I've only ordered cheap plain white nets, but it has chipped into another budget.

I didn't hear from my buyers last week, so I assume it'll be this week.  I'm not in a rush and I know the delays are due to the mortgage letter being dealt with, so I'll see what this week brings.

    Happy New Week.

The guys were done in record time yesterday, although I think that was partly due to the amount I’d sorted for them. Lots of cleaning to do now.

Despite the bin men being on strike they still turned up. We’d been told not to have bins out so when I heard them I flew outside and just caught them. There’s rumours the strike could go on for months so I’m happy my bin isn’t festering outside with the hotter weather coming. We do have rubbish drop off points so I found my local one and was really impressed. It also means I can go there whenever I have a few bin bags full. This will be better for me than a weekly collection with the amount of clearing and sorting I’m doing.

So now I have a house with minimal contents and it’s making me rethink my life and my consumption of material products. Most of what was taken has been in boxes for a while and I don’t think I’ll miss much of it so more clearing out when I get my new house.
I did purchase a key safe so that when I need to hand over this house I can put a key safely aside for them. It was on a flash sale and also offered a discount so I hope it does the job.

No surprises in YNAB. I shouldn’t need to spend today or the rest of the week either. I need to go shopping but I still have plenty in my supermarket voucher fund for that.

I also need to buy foods that don’t need to be in the fridge or freezer. So I may be restricted to tinned foods now 🥫.  Tinned Ravioli and fruit salad anyone? 😂

  • You've bin on top of things as usual MT 😼
    Everything sounds good .

Absolutely recommend doing that... I still have stuff to sort through here after my madly disorganised move and am going to really try to do better next time!
Interested to hear about the key safe, I was just wondering about something like that myself for emergencies.  Is it one you have screwed to the outside wall, or hide, or something different?

@R@RosaBernicia it's on the rain forest site.  Do a search for Combination Key Lock Box, and with the promotions it was £8.06.  The cheapest I've seen by a few £'s.  You can screw to a wall, or hide it somewhere as it's not huge. I just wanted something cheap and effective as my house sale is with an online company and so I don't have an Estate Agents to drop the keys off to.
