Some basics might be useful
PC model( to lookup the base specs) and any hardware updates done
or if you know CPU and memory.
What disc are installed and how much free space.
In settings->update & security-> update history
what were the last windows updates
eg mine has
daily updates of windows defender in definition updates
did a windows update on the 13/3/2021 for Version 2004
has 20H2 waiting to install,
Reset should have an option to keep your files but I would back up anyway, to an external source anything important you want to keep

Also, is backing up anything i do have to google drive ok? Or do you recommend only doing it via USB drive...
** In theory apps that came preinstalled with pc will be reinstalled. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.1 -
If there's a malware nasty stopping updates there's a nifty app called rKill https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/If it doesn't come up with anything you could run a sfc from command prompt (sfc /scannow) [note space]. If it tells you it fixed some errors but couldn't fix all run the DISM command https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-imageIf all else fails you could reset w10 and keep your data (it gives 2 options). I've run it a couple of times and it does sort out problems but it deletes all apps not supplied when first used. Caveat is to back up your data first though.

Last update was :KB4023057: Update for Windows 10 Update Service components.
Done on 23/03/2021
Although there is another update ready to be installed now (which wasnt there yesterday) 2021-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB5000802). I'm going to do this now...

Try all these, but also boot into safe mode to do them, you should be able to update/reinstall MalwareBytes whilst in safe mode as well.1

Rkill found 0 threats or issues. SFC scan found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Task manager opens up instantly via ctril-alt-delete aswell now.
So whats peoples opinions now, all seems to be ok, so i guess i don't need to do a reset?

My PC restarted twice last night with zero notifications. I was playing an online game at the time of thefirst reboot.I was about to start trouble shooting and noticed improper shutdown in events and ASUSArmoury Crate and Aura Creator had updated, nice of the apps to let me know it was going toforce an improper shutdown.Think it maybe time to start blocking updates again.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
