I was hacker earlier in the yr and for hotmail I had to email a dep as I could not re-set my passwords as the hacker had changed them. Hotmail replied with a list of 20 questions and I ansewerd them, they replied saying I had not provided the correct info so I ended up sending them a grumpy email that seemed to sort the problem out.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

Also the problem with these free email providers is that they run on a skeletal crew so human customer support is at the absolute minimum. In your case you were lucky you got any response at all. I would never recommend any of the free services for important email. I only use googlemail etc when I'm likely to get spam and HAVE to provide an address but when I'm providing an address where I'm expecting something important to be sent then I use my normal pop3 hosted addresses.

• The following entries in your log file look a bit suss.

C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\RarSFX1\_start.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\RarSFX1\setup.exe

Executables in temp folder are a common cause of trojans.

Is your AVG anti-virus up to date? If not, get latest definitions and boot up in safe mode and perform a full scan.

You should also clean out your temp folder and see if these files re-appear.

Use CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ to remove all temp rubbish.

Similar problem but mine is with BT. I no longer have my broadband with BT but have been using the e-mail for a while now. I had an e-mail to say that I hadn't used some dial up thing for a while and that if I didn't they would close my account on 9th Jan. Have been slowly changing e-mails over when they arrive but now I can't access it at all. It keeps saying have I checked that caps lock is off which it is and have I forgot or mis typed my password which I haven't but it just wont let me in.

In order to keep using your BT account you have to dial in once every 30 days to keep it act to keep it active. You can call customer services and have it switched back on and then download the dialler software and access your account
• Thanks for advice. I never knew I had a dial up until I got the e-mail telling me I had not accessed it. They also said that I could continue using the e-mail facility for £1.50 per month, which is not worth it when I have another e-mail address anway. Also I have tried to download but not too successfully, got rather confused and gave up and then started swapping all my e-mail addresses over thinking, well they are going to close account anyway. An easy way to resolve this would be handy though.

Don't use an ISP's email address. I haven't used one in years, at least two ISP changes ago. I just use my own domain (xxx@myname.co.uk) and some googlemail/gmail addresses.

• So I thought I was started to get this resolved when I discover my ebay has been hijacked yet again. Last night I checked my newly set up(on the parents pc) email and see there is a password reminder email then about 20 minutes later a change password confirmation and change email confirmation.

How the hell has this happened? I used my parents pc for all the creating of the new email address and revision of ebay details etc. The email were unread so I am unsure as to whether the new account has been accessed or not. I am at a loss as to how the person got back into the account. I have just sent ebay an email but this has stuffed me right up as I work 9-6 so will probably find several people will be scammed then provided with my address.

Once again, help?!
