Help! Hotmail & Gmail Hacked

Hi there everyone,
Woke up this morning to find I could no longer access both my gmail and hotmail accounts. After desperately checking and retyping passwords I come to the conclusion someone has hacked my accounts - being unable to access my ebay account unfortunately confirmed this. I stayed in a hotel on Weds and used the wireless - I think this may be the cause, but I only have myself to blame - the network was unsecured.
Anyway so begins the painful process of sorting the mess out - I have already sorted the ebay side - the hacker had used my account to create some one day listings which have now thankfully been removed, and my password and contact email changed. I also checked paypal and did the same though no use there that I can see, and I could access it so not sure they attempted nything there.
I have followed the gmail procedure for a compromised account, and was wondering if anyone could verify if the link below is genuine to do the same for hotmail (ye I am paranoid)
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlmail&page=wlsupport_home_options_form_byemail&ct=eformts
I only ask as gmail I could find the relevant links throught the homepage but I couldn't with hotmail - it just directs me to a page which asks for my security question (which has been changed somehow).
I am also going to contact my bank just to explain as I have purchased with my card and would rather be over safe and cancel it than be caught out over Christmas.
My biggest concern I suppose is that I used the gmail account for job applications (recent graduate), and consequently it has a lot of personal info (cv, address, work history etc). Also I am scared they will email people on the contacts and in particular I have a final interview for a job next week with date TBC - obv now if they do that by email I won't get it.
So I suppose I'm just after reassurance and any advice or tips. Also if the above link is fraudulent could someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks all, just goes to show you can never be too careful!

Nightmare. My ex hacked my email password, I didn't know for months. I have been completely paranoid ever since.
I doubt the hacker would go so far as to sabotage your job application etc, the Ebay account activity would suggest he/she is only after money. Make sure you get a new credit/debit card and try to change your credentials on all your online accounts.
If I was you I'd set up a completely new account for everything you use online (annoying I know) and you try to just forget about it. I deleted everything in my gmail account just to make sure and set up a seperate account that I only ever use for private/money/anonymous stuff that I've never told anyone I know about.
Not sure about the hotmail stuff but if possible use your ISP/work email address as they can't be hacked from just anywhere.

With hotmail don't you give a second email address when you sign up? I have just found another address in my mail which I got when changing to live messesnger too.
Re job - contact them ! and tell them what has happened, just in case (and good luck).Torgwen.....................

Similar problem but mine is with BT. I no longer have my broadband with BT but have been using the e-mail for a while now. I had an e-mail to say that I hadn't used some dial up thing for a while and that if I didn't they would close my account on 9th Jan. Have been slowly changing e-mails over when they arrive but now I can't access it at all. It keeps saying have I checked that caps lock is off which it is and have I forgot or mis typed my password which I haven't but it just wont let me in.If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
Why practice!:T0 -
It gets worse..... the email address I moved my ebay, paypal etc to has now also been hacked, and they have locked me out of ebay again. I am in the process of creating a brand new one from scratch but now I am terrified as to how they managed that - it had a different password etc. I am typing from my parents pc and am going to have to empty my laptop I think - any recommendations there?0

Go through the malware removal sticky. You could have a keylogger."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

As you did not take wireless security seriously, what anti-virus/syware/mallware and firewall software do you have on this laptop? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Can anyone advise as to the best free email provider?
Windoze firewall does not protect you from outbound threats! The phrase "Chocolate fire guard" has been used today regarding this so get yourself a proper firewall installed.
Yahoo, Googlemail:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
