Is it true that I'll get a better signal if purchased through Vodafone and not Mobiles.co.uk?!

Here's a screenshot of what I was told but I can't find anything to verify it - is it true? I appreciate any info! Thanks :)

If the package is Vodafone then exactly the same as far as I know and customer service on your contract is from Vodafone.
Check the speeds being offered are the same as Vodafone sell packages with different maximum speeds.
Is the amount you will be paying actually cheaper or is your price based on cashback? If based on cashback then I suspect part of that is commission being paid to mobiles which they can rebate back to you.

It's complete rubbish. The airtime agreement is still with Vodafone and is exactly the same. It is possible the handset will be a grey import and could have issues with things like VoLTE and VoWiFi but nowadays newer phones bought anywhere tend to allow these services, unlike a few years ago where you needed carrier firmware for some features. Vodafone still mislead punters by suggesting you need to buy handsets from them sometimes.

It's absolute balderdash and total mis-selling. In your shoes I'd be making a formal complaint. Comments about their customer service may be true, but the Vodafone speeds and coverage should be identical. You are not on a Mobile Phones Direct virtual network but Vodafone's own network which to my knowledge does not differentiate between customer.s

But as I said before check which Vodafone service you are looking at with mobiles as they do offer contracts with different max speeds
  • Thank you, I really appreciate all your replies. I'm not sure how to check the speeds on mobiles.co.uk, I can't see it anywhere. Does anyone know? They're both 5G, does that cover it? Asking with my clearly limited knowledge!

The mobiles.co.uk deal is more than £10 a month cheaper even with all Vodafone's selling discounts etc. so I'd save a lot of money!

How can they say this stuff if it's not true? It's terrible. The guy seemed nice enough, I guess they all get given the lingo to say.

I also have to pay another month of my contract price even though it's run out because I didn't give them 30 days notice. Fair enough, they said that's in the T&C's but, ugh, annoying!

  • Sorry I meant to say, it's not with cashback.
There's actually a £30 cheaper deal over the 24 months but I thought it was worth it, not to have to worry about missing any of the claims.

Am wondering if the agent you spoke to thought mobiles.co.uk were a MVNO on the Vodafone network.
As far as I can tell it would appear 5G speeds aren't capped (unless it's very well hidden!) as speed limited plans are visible on the Carphone Warehouse website and they own mobiles.co.uk.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Nope if it's one of their 5g plans then they are not speed capped. So if cheaper through mobiles I'd take contract through them (check topcashback and quidco for cashback on the order).
Other thing OP is I assume you're not keeping your old number as you've mentioned giving notice on your old account.  If you wanted to avoid the extra month as long as you are out of minimum contract term get a PAC and then port to any other network (I used Asda on a Sim which cost me 50p). The port ends your contract and is treated as having given notice.

Vodafone only have speed caps on some of their unlimited plans.
On the mobiles.co.uk these have an icon showing if they are 2 MB/s, 10MB/s or Unlimited speed. The same plans at Vodafone.co.uk have the speed limit listed in the "includes" section.
If you're not buying an unlimited plan, you get the maximum possible speed.
