Talkmobile - LTE

Hello All,

I've just switched to a monthly SIM only deal with Talkmobile. All is fine except that I just seem to have LTE or 3G coverage and not 4G. I didn't know what LTE was but a google suggests it's on older inferior 4G speed and not true 4G. I was getting 4G with my previous supplier and the same handset so am assuming that LTE is all that Talkmobile supply - does anyone know for sure? Is this why it's cheaper?

Where do you see indication of LTE..?

LTE is 4G.

As said LTE is 4G, maybe you misunderstood what you read.

I'm really confused by the LTE / 4G thing. All the googling indicates something along the lines of the following:

"LTE, sometimes known as 4G LTE, is a type of 4G technology. Short for "Long Term Evolution", it's slower than "true" 4G, but significantly faster than 3G..."

My iPhone screen says "LTE" next to the signal strength where it used to say 4G when I was with Plusnet previously.

I have the same issue. Was previously with GiffGaff. At another address I noticed I had 3G. Hoping that was temporary. Maybe, as suggested, TM offering is inferior service? Pity about the poor answering here. Oh, now on 3G again!

I got a sim in the black friday deal aiming to port across, running 2 sims in my phone for a week or so, but found that whilst had signal all speed tests showed it was lower ten realised my phone said LTE not 4G when the TM sim was active.
