Can you move items in before completion?

We are due to move in a week, but we were wondering if you are allowed to move items into the property before completion?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Not as standard. You may be able to come to a private arrangement with the vendor, however, you'd need to inform your solicitor (or so mine says anyway). Also bear in mind that the vendors will have access still so there has to be a degree of trust, and those belongings won't be covered on your insurance (most insurers will cover buildings only until the completion date).1

You are allowed if the owners let you.
why they would want to do that though god only knows. 😂

OP - all you can do is ask but be prepared for them to say no.

If the home you're moving to is empty, it might be possible with all the caveats already mentioned. You can only ask.0

Have you already exchanged?
If you have, you might be lucky but if you haven't (simultaneous exchange/completion), then it's almost certainly a no.0 -
When we were buying a previous house in 2011 the vendors asked us if we'd like to move some of our stuff in between exchange and completion.
We were moving long distance, the property was empty and we were arranging insurance from exchange anyway (we just added contents insurance) we agreed. They gave us a set of keys and it all went fine.
Tbh, we didn't even think about informing our solicitor and as we were cash buyers there was no lender involved.
It's not for everyone but I think perhaps out in the sticks where this was people are more trusting, maybe?Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

I did. Just bits of furniture such as a wardrobe that they were happy to store in the dining room till they moved out.
Second hand so nothing I was worried about them half-inching.Never occurred to me to inform the solicitor or anyone else. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

So ask if you wish.0 -
Our vendor asked if there was anything we wanted to put in the garage as he had emptied it out. We’ve moved a shelving unit into there, as this thing is massive, and we were dreading moving it on completion day. it does the vendor a favour too as he is now storing items on it, ready to load into the moving van0

Only if vendor doesn't fully understand legal implications0
