Can I extend WiFi range of Virgin media Hub 3.0?

Before you spend any money on anything - are you sure it is the Wifi that is the issue rather than the Broadband connection itself? You said you get buffering 3 metres away from the hub which is well within it's Wifi capabilities. Although I do agree the Wifi on the Hub 3 isn't the best and personally always recommend buying your own Wifi router instead of using ISP equipment, it does need more investigation before you just buy something else.
1. Where is the Hub 3 located? Is it out in the open away from any solid objects and other appliances?
2. Have you checked the actual broadband connectivity? I think you said haven't got a device to plug into the ethernet but if you can borrow one to do a speed check that would be great.
3. Are all the cables installed tightly - check all of them by removing and replacing and reboot the router afterwards.
4. You can get more information for the router status page. Enter 192.168.0.1 into the address bar of your browser and then click "Check router status". If you don't understand all the info on there, take screenshots of the data and post it here or on the virgin media forums and people will be able to help determine if the problem is upstream - eg the broadband rather than the Wifi. There is a section like this which helps show whether the broadband side is working properly:

Thanks all.Tallmansix, thank you, the hub is located underneath my tv right next to where the wire comes out of the wall. Nothing has changed except the new hub.I had speed checked the broadband speed through WiFi and speeds were really quite good. I appreciate WiFi is less reliable way of checking rather than through cable. The buffering 3metres away is not toO often. I can run Netflix etc wirelessly no problem on my tv which is above the hub.I’ll have a look at the router status etc. I’ll check the cables also. It does appear to be the range causing an issue which I never had before.Spoke to virgin today (got through), theY can’t supply me with the older hub which is unfortunate...
will see how it goes.
