Pal wrote:According to a number of EAs I spoke to last year, they get very few enquiries through local papers any more and one was considering pulling out, while the others were only doing it because everyone else did.
Almost all enquires now were from the internet - rightmove usually.
But then, if you have a property to sell which would appeal to the older generation, like a bungalow for example, bear in mind that a lot of people in this age group do not use the internet.0 -

The EA who came to us said exactly the same thing. 2 sorts of buyer, internet and "traditional", and they use both types of advertising to ensure your house is reaching a maximum audience. However, he was also saying that they are texting details of new properties to more and more of the "traditional" buyer.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Now I dont know what to do again as our house would suit either a young couple / family or older......0 -
bridie, do you have schools near to your house, and if so are they good ones? If the answer is yes then you may want to target a family buyer.
If you look casually around at the average age of your neighbours, and find that there are a lot of over 60's this could mean that your area has something to offer them ie good shops nearby, or on a bus route, close to entertainment that appeals to them etc.
You are under no obligation to sign up with an agent after they have looked at your house, so you could get a few round and ask them what age group they think would buy it. It's not an exact science though !0 -
Thing is it's a bit of a mixed bag - yes, good primary school just up the hill so would be good for family BUT also quite a few older retired people (one lot next door in fact) so would suit either....0
