Is there a website that publishes the number of sales estate agents have made?
Thanks

Not seen any.
Personally I favour the small local estate agents as they offer a more personal service which is customisable , rather than a large national company. (this I found through personal experience).0 -
nice to see you working hard then...0

bridie - I don't think there is one. I always make mental notes of which agent has the most SOLD signs up, but this isn't scientific because they don't all have the same number of properties to sell in any given area at the same time.0

Such statistics would be a wonderful public service from our estate agent friends.
But that knowledge, and the recently available Land Registry information, could empower vendors. Some might be tempted to try to do without estate agents' advice.0 -
We just had an EA round to value the house. He showed us 2 pie graphs, one showing SOLD boards up in the local area and one showing FOR SALE boards up too.
Their company obviously was winning the SOLD boards graph!
So there is a company that assess these things for EAs, it's whether EAs are willing to share that info with you. I guess it's a service that EAs pay for each month if they sign up to get the info.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

That's what I'm thinking, only thing is the one I want to use doesnt advertise in the local paper, which is obviously going to miss out a huge chunk of potential buyers.....

what were their reasons for not using the local paper? and where do their customers come from I wonder?my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

It is a strange one!0 -
I always get a few agents over to help you value, assess their services and negotiate fees. This way you can see how much exposure your property will get for the best price.
Generally on arriving I make casual conversation asking how their week is going and whether they have been busy. Sometimes I drop in the question "How many have you sold in the past X weeks" but more often than not they tell me before I have to ask.
You also have to remember most sales doesnt mean the best agent. Its very worthwhile finding out how many properties are on their books.
In my area 1 agent has a massive share of the market and by far the most board up. However if they done sell your property in the first few weeks of marketing it, chances are they will have taken on another 30/40 new properties.0 -
According to a number of EAs I spoke to last year, they get very few enquiries through local papers any more and one was considering pulling out, while the others were only doing it because everyone else did. I.e. they use them to advertise the Estate Agent itself "look how many properties we have got", rather than advertise specific properties.
Almost all enquires now were from the internet - rightmove usually.
It makes sense really. Who the hell can make head nor tail of the jumbled mess that is property adverts in the local rags? On the internet, you can specify postcode, price, rooms etc etc. Much quicker and easier.0
