Hi 👋
I hope this is in the right place. I have a hot water tank (Horstmann economy 7 quartz) this is currently how it is set up:

I haven't actually changed any settings on it since moving in.
Could anyone tell me what times it is set for? I have no idea what I'm looking at.
Thanks in advance.

Better picture. This was taken at 11:10. Should the red light always be on?

Where are you seeing 65 degrees?
  • Hi,
how much time between photies, looks as though timer hasn't moved.
Also, the timer is at 5am (winter time), so turn the dial round to the time now.

There was 20 minutes between photos.
This is how I've set it now. I think I've set it for 11:30. Red light is now off.

The timer thinks it's 4am so the immersion heater is switched on and it's costing you a fortune at peak rate !
Look at the meter to find out exactly when your E7 cheap rates start and stop.  Note that there can be a 2-hour gap in the middle of the night.  Here's a clue.
Probably best to set it for an hour or two to finish shortly before the end of the cheap rate.

Thank you. I think I've just set the dial to the correct time now. Off peak hours are 12:30 - 7:30.

    Hi,
go back to timer and turn the dial round 24 hr, watch for red light to come on, you will see when water heater goes on/off.
Set back to correct time, and just do a wee check later to be sure timer is advancing.

    Thanks so much!
I just did that and it switched on then off at 7am so ends in off peak period.
Will check timer later. Maybe I'll save a few pennies on the electric now 😂

You'll need to watch the meter change over; it may not be set to the times you think.  You then need to make sure the Horstmann is programmed appropriately.  Get it wrong and it will be expensive.  Check again on Sunday when it's summer time.
Don't use the expensive 60 minute boost unless you've been away or have used an excessive amount of hot water.
