  • What car is it?
I've worked at a 4x4 dealer years ago and if i recall well then the grand Cherokee jeeps use a method to put in oil otherwise it does effect the engine, if it is one of those, go to specialist forum they will know.

Be interesting to know if this car had a belt driven oil pump and the belt or tensioner failed, seems more and more Ford 1.0 Ecoboosts are failing these days.
Proof please:- I can't find any reports of the ecoboost failing more than any other engine?

All engines have faults, but it seems Ford does have other problems with these Ecoboost engines apart from the notorious coolant pipe issue kindly lined in above.

There are a couple of common oil related problems that occur, one is the oil pressure control solenoid failing.

Another is the drive belts are "in oil" and they have been breaking down. There are plenty of reports of debris from the belt clogging the oil pump casuing low oil pressure problems and of course if the belt is breaking down it will eventually fail.

This is what they look like full of belt debris

If you look or are in the right place, you'll find the proof, try the Ford Owners Club for a start.
