I've just bought one for next weekend as i always cook a xmas dinner for dad and stepmum before they go on holiday over xmas.
I been trying to be frugal this xmas so thanks to this forum my husband has just been to Aldi and bought a £6.99 Turkey Crown...thank you everyone...anyway my question is....
There will be four adults and two children (who eat well), will there be any turkey left for tea?...Also, if it is as good as everyone says it is, i was going to buy another nearer the time for xmas lunch (this time mum and stepdad come round), will there be any left nearer xmas or do they sell out?
Thanks for your replies.

I've just been to the love food hate waste website and though they don't have anything about turkey they say that 760g of chicken meat should be sufficient for 4 adults and 2 children. Doesn't sound alot to me!!!:p
Though there is alot of meat on a turkey crown I'm not sure if there would be enough for tea as well (do you mean another proper meal for 4 + 2 or just some sarnies?). There should be, alot will depend on your portion sizes! Much depends on how you're "padding" the meal out. Are you having a starter? With the turkey, will you be having pigs in blankets or chipolatas/how many types of potatoes/vegetables/stuffings are you having?
I shop at Aldi (their small frozen beef joints are good) from time to time but I don't live close enough to go weekly unfortunately! Their seasonal offers do usually go pretty quickly so I'd get another fairly soon.:wave:0 -

Thta sounds like the perfect size for our house as we need one for inbetween Christmas and New Year (We are invited out for those two).
Looks like a trip to Aldi this week. :beer:Aiming to be Debt free by October 20130 -
Espresso, that is exactly the turkey crown i've bought and yes it is for sanies for tea as well as dinner (though i'm hoping everyone only wants a bit as we are usually still full from dinner). I don't usually do a starter as we have loads of veg and sausage in bacon, stuffing etc then xmas pud then coffee and mince pies...my mouth is watering now0

Depends what you do with it, if you make sure there is left over stuffing etc for the sandwiches aswell it'll stretch further, and making sure there is enough veg, potatoes etc so that noone just goes mad with the turkey at lunch then I would say should be plenty. One day I might be more organised...........

We bought a turkey crown last year for £5 from staff sales shop as my OH works at well know turkey producers. We had it for dinner, tea, and two days later we were still eating it so froze what was left for stir-frys. I didn't realize a crown could be so big. We are having roast beef this Christmas ordered from the butcher as I was fed up with turkey and now have received two turkeys from people who did not want their free one. OH thought they would come in handy:mad: . We also have two free range chickens in freezer so lots of curry's and stir-frys in the new year. I will have to think of other ways to use these as well.0

We 've had the Aldi Turkey Crown for the past 2 years and it fed 6 adults with enough left over for a fairly meagre dinner for 5 the next day! We had two types of stuffing and sausage/bacon thingys plus loads of roast & mashed potatoes with veg and we're not HUGE meat-eaters, but there was plenty. I'd say you'll easily have enough for sandwiches.0

Hi all
Just to let you know we had our xmas dinner 'number one' yesterday.... The turkey we bought from Aldi was lovely and we had loads left for sandwiches later and still have some for curry etc
Thank you all, you have saved us loads of money. We are off now to buy another for xmas day (hope we can get one)!0
