You must feel poor with the Poco X3 when compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G.  :)

X3  Gorilla Glass 5,   S21  Gorilla Glass Victus.   (no idea but sounds cool)
    X3 395ppi,  S21  515ppi
    X3 450nits brightness, S21 1500nits.
    X3 HDR10, S21 HDR10+
    IP53 compared to IP68
    64MP vs 108MP

So many differences you can see why it costs more, but are they stupidly overpriced. Yes for me.
At the end of the day its a phone and 99% of the time that is what I use it for. I don't watch
movies on it or play intensive games.

I had the Galaxy S2 and S4 and just as the S7 came out I bought a discounted S6. No way i was going
to pay full price for the S6.  Currently using a Galaxy M31s.  Its OK for the main but some annoying
features that I cannot work out if its Samsung or the latest Android.

Why can I no longer message and call by swiping left and right no matter which screen I have open??
Previously I could be in messages or phone or contacts and a single swipe right or left took me to
    the correct screen. Not anymore.

Flagship phones are no more for me. I have a computer so just require a phone not a 2nd
    compromised computer.

  • I buy iPhone. I like the functionality like live listen and general customization with the AirPods. Also they are very easy to use, simple things like torch and camera from the Lock Screen and the general accessibility options. I always buy an older model or second hand as can not see any reason to pay over 400 quid for a phone. The beauty of iPhones is they are supported for a long time so second hand or renewed is the way to go.
Ive tried cheap and high end android and have always been frustrated with them one way or another.
Don’t understand why anyone would pay 1k for a Samsung only for it to only get 2 years of updates. And then drop so much in price because of this.
An iPhone 8 can be had for 200 quid and is still rocking the latest software and probably will for a few more years yet.
I would love to get a cheap android and save some money but I know I would be fed up after a few weeks.

The expensive Android's are likely to offer things like more ram, better processor, wireless charging, OLED screen, better camera.  You would certainly be able to tell the different between that and a £100 phone.  They also put more effort into the design of their premium/ flagship phones   If you're happy with your Poco X3  then that's great.  I have a Pixel 4a and more than happy with it too.

So basically I'm just curious when i see handsets advertised at just under a grand, what better an experience do you enjoy?
This is an honest question and welcome the replies.
Some people see a phone as a status symbol (see also expensive watch/car/clothes/shoes etc)
Pays your money and takes your choice, I suppose

A phone is a phone , a camera is a camera , a computer well it depends , my idea of flagship is an aircraft carrier with no planes mind you the first three you can find at a reasonable price.   have a moto g7 and mrs dcm has a redmi note 9 neither of which float.
4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy
  • They may well be called phones but these devices are computers in your hand and the phone is just another app on the screen. Some of the pictures these latest phones can take can hold up against a camera system that cost me around £1000 5 years ago. My style of photography lends more to investing in these phones than another separate camera system.

Like anything we buy we have to try and understand what our needs are and does the device meet them. If we can do that then we will be happy with whatever device we end up choosing.
