Shell energy cease charge :(

I am in process of leaving Shell Energy Broadband at the end of my contract and notice they charge a £12 cease charge, wish I had read this when I signed with them.
Is this even legal charging at end of contract even if mentioned in terms and conditions?
They also try and intimidate you to stay with them with this comment
"When your service ends, your service will be interrupted and you will need to reconnect all of your devices. You might lose your telephone number and you may receive slower speeds. Be aware, your new provider may increase their prices whilst you are still in contract or out of contract."
Seem quite underhand to me.

been discussed before eg

if you originally applied to join through MSE you might be able to get it refunded but you may have to persist

Shell have just said they are "axing" the fee - may not help you though if you have already been charged it ?
if you originally joined via an MSE deal you should not be charged it - see the next link for more info

I originally posted this on 15April in the new thread announcing that they're ditching the cease fee, but it's probably more relevant here:
Having originally signed to Shell via MSE, I switched away in March. The final bill wrongly included the £15 fee, but I had a lot of "stuff" going-on at the time and didn't get to challenge it before the DD went from my bank and haven't done-so since. Out of the blue yesterday, an email from Shell apologising and saying they'll be refunding the £15. It appeared in my account this morning.0 -
