There is more to this story than we are being told I suspect.

my friend helps me out every month and I pay him back as soon as my furlough comes in.
Then your account is under review due to the association with your friend. For whatever reason your friend has come under the spotlight. Cleansing money through account transfers is currently a hot topic.
  • There’s no reason for a bank to be suspicious about £300 coming in from a friend; that’s a completely normal everyday occurrence that won’t trigger any flags. If it’s being questioned then it implies that there’s an issue with your friend’s account and / or he’s tried to recall the money.
Is there really nothing else going on here? No-one knows who you are, so there’s no reason to hold anything back, and it’s far easier to offer good advice if people have all of the facts.

Did any other money go into your account? did you pay anyone or for any service?
It is not advisable to lie even if some guy on the front bench suggested it.
    Yeah money has gone out
Were all the places it went to legit? any bitcoins etc?

Recycling of money is now detected by analytic software. Vast majority of transactions coming under review are small but regular.

It’s a normal occurrence every month just like your friends sending you money for food or drinks etc.. there was no reasoning behind them putting my account under review

So there is £300 coming in every month from your friend, then later in the month other money (your furlough) comes in and £300 goes out to your friend.
I can see that an AML algorithm might pick that up as suspicious.  Even more suspicious when the friend is hard to get in touch with.

As an aside, could you not re-arrange your payments to go out after the furlough payment comes in so you don't need that £300?
