eBay, need a bank account.

Hello,

Hope this is the right place to but it.

I am selling antique on eBay and they are now doing this Managed payment. They put the money in to a bank account instead of PayPal because of the falling out. We don't sell a lot but a good 25 to 50 sales a month depending on the time of year. I am looking for a free if possible business account, I know I could open a current account with a bank but I understand this is a grey area but most seem to get away with it.

I've had a look at Starling bank because that is the one most people say but have limits on the sole trader account and not allowed to selling antiques. Mettle might be out of the question too because you are not allowed to sell precious metals. Antique silver would a no go.

Any recommendations would be great :)

The following is not a recommendation. I have come across HSBC Kinetic, which is HSBC’s version of an app only business account. I don’t know it’s limitations.
Many High Street banks are either not opening business accounts now or they are taking their time due to current conditions. The way HSBC sell it, this is not a factor in opening a Kinetic account. Also this account has FSCS protection. This was a factor for a business owner on a thread a few months ago. Their business was eligible for a grant, but could not receive it because their bank account was not FSCS protected. The grant provider would only send money to FSCS protected accounts.

Thank you for the information and surprised it did come up yesterday when doing the looking up but guessing that is because it very new. I decided to go with Starling bank and see how it goes, good reviews and also FSCS .
