Forced to use Dealer for servicing, car isn’t even in warranty

Another good reason to avoid Dacias.0

All the software, licensed manufacturer, licensed third party or free third party is available online, all one then needs is a suitable cable/dongle, which can be bought in the £2-50 range (no idea if the AliExpress ones are any good). The dongle with software seems to be around £150 for a good consumer model. I agree it is pretty unscrupulous behaviour from Dacia, but also totally bypassable.

There's a lot of uninformed rubbish on this thread. Certain diagnostic operations now need access through a secure gateway to the manufacturer (on the internet), its a security measure. This is true for Renault/Dacia, FCA, VAG and others. It requires a more up-to-date/capable diagnostic machine (ie in the £1000 range, not the £200 range), the purchase of tokens from the manufacturer (the maker of the diag machine supplies them) and an internet connection.
If the garage doesn't have a suitably capable machine, then they're going to be missing out on the above manufacturers work, and others, in the past 6+ years.
More likely though, is the garage doesn't feel they ought to reset the service light as a one-off job.0 -
Oh well explained. So it's basically a ransomware attack by Dacia. Pay us a load of money and we'll turn the light off. Don't pay us and you're stuck with it. Nice.0

Plus they'll hand you a free one year / 15,000 mile warranty. Daylight robbery!Ibrahim5 said:Oh well explained. So it's basically a ransomware attack by Dacia. Pay us a load of money and we'll turn the light off. Don't pay us and you're stuck with it. Nice.0 -

Have Dacia stopped the dasboard being able to reset the service light?
Worked on a 2020 car, goto service interval and reset the counter to 12500miles/12months.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Was it a Sandero Mk2 or Mk3? The Mk3 was launched in Sept 2020.forgotmyname said:Have Dacia stopped the dasboard being able to reset the service light?

It was a Duster, just selected the service interval page and where it says the current mileage/time left you press
the down button or hold the down button until it flashes and keep holding until it resets.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
