O2 switch deals buy iPhone SE £256

I’ve just had a chat with O2 to get a new phone deal and apparently I can get an IPhone SE 2020 on 24mth £34 but this is too expensive..but I can buy the phone after accepting the deal for just £256 and end the contract immediately, then opt for a sim only for just £15 per mth for 18mths. Total £526 
why does this seem to good??

    That's the O2 Refresh deal you are referring to.

    Yes, you can do that and a lot of people in the know do just that. Just don't try it too often.
