The forum can help with issues not covered by the main site. Connecting the hardware is very much a case-by-case thing as there isn't an "off the shelf" package.If you are thinking of using InfluxDB (or any other database), use a computer with a proper hard drive. I've killed several SD cards in a matter of months when I first started with home automation (hence the NAS).The whole HA thing may be more than you need/want - I use mine to control the heating system, (some) lights, as well as logging a ton of data about energy consumption.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
