LCWRA BACK PAYMENT PROCESSING TIMES

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody could help me. I have been awarded the LCWRA on my universal credit. I received a letter claiming they owe me money in regards to back pay. This was sent to my bank on 15/03 and I was told on the phone it would be in by today but it hasn’t went in nor has my bank received a payment from the DWP. I was just wondering if anybody has received their back pay and what type of payment method the DWP used and how long is approximately took? Thank you

Once payment has been made it takes 3-5 working days for it to go into your bank. Did it specifically state on your journal exactly how much you're owed or did it just say "any backdated money owed"?
If it's your first work capability assessment then there's a 3 full month waiting period and the extra money is then paid on the 4th month from when you first reported a health condition.
  • Oh that’s great then so it must go in Monday, they have told me how much I’m owed 5K+ and that the payment was sent to my bank on 15/03. It could possibly go in tomorrow but not sure that’s going to count, it should have really went in today due to it being the 5th day since they sent it. Thanks

Whether the funds are released tomorrow by your bank will depend on who you bank with. I bank with Natwest and they do not release funds or take any DD's on a Saturday. If it's not in by Monday then either put a note on your journal or ring them.

Ah right ok ill do that, I bank with Barclays but not sure of their terms. I’ll just see if it goes in by Monday then call if it doesn’t. Thanks for all your help.

I get payments on weekends with Barclays - but those are automatic ones.  I don't know if a manual payment (which the backpay will be) would be any different.

Right ok, I’m glad I know what payment method they used as they couldn’t tell me. Will see if it is in by Monday. Thanks

I don't know what the method is officially called, but I assume backpay is manual because it always has to be calculated for each individual claim; it's never automatic as the regular payments are :)

Whether its manually calculated or automatic it will be via normal BACS procedures, as has been said 3-5 days unless they use Faster payment service in certain circumstances.

I’m quite worried now as the DWP said they sent the payment on the 15/03 and it should go into my account by Friday and my bank are saying they have received no payments at all. Is it possible with it being a large sum of money it can take longer?
