British Gas billing problem
I am a British Gas customer and pay my bill on 'receipt of bill'. This is my first bill with them. I tried to pay my bill at the post office, and was told the can't proceed as the need a 'barcode' on the letter. So i contacted BG via their 'Chat' option, as they don't have a direct email/message service. So they tell me they will send another letter out this time with a barcode. Again this is the same letter without a barcode on it! I have contacted BG 3x times now to no avail. Now i am getting ''nasty" email to pay my bill.
Any advice would be welcomed, i have even asked for a plastic payment card, so no need for a paperbill with a barcode on it(I can see the amount via online account). And dont want a direct debit/ app payment method. How should i proceed witw this problem.

Have you an online BG account ? If so can you pay there by Bank Transfer ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2

Thanks for the replies #Robin9 & Gerry1
.
Yes I have got an online account with BG. But the trouble is I am not happy about online banking. This is why I choose the option to pay the bill at a 'payzone' outlet. The only option i can see is sending BG a cheque/postal order. As i have mentioned i am unable to proceed, without a barcode/payment card. My previous energy supplier 'Ebico', this was a simple process.0 -
Stanley75 said:But the trouble is I am not happy about online banking.Just pay with a credit card, assuming that BG website doesn't restrict the facility to debit cards. In the highly unlikely event that this leads to your card being compromised, just ask the bank to cancel any payments you haven't authorised. If it really goes pear shaped you can refuse to pay the credit card company whereas with a debit card you'd have to wait and hope for a refund.1

You can chat with British Gas through the app. They reply almost immediately
After a quick nose Ive found you can pay via the app too with credit or debit card0 -
@stanley75 Can you print off a bill from the online account and send a cheque (put the a/c number on the back) with it in the post ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

Hi,from BG:
Pay over the phone
Call: 0333 202 9524Call us anytime to pay your bill – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Pay at the bank
You can pop to your local bank to pay by cash or cheque.
Just remember, some banks may charge you and your payment can take up to three working days to reach us.
- Write a cheque for your bill amount and make it payable to: British Gas Trading Ltd

- Get your payment slip from your bill
- Take your cheque and payment slip to the bank

And the bank is probably five miles away and opens only between 10am - 12pm on alternate Wednesdays when there's no R in the month...1
