I’m looking into the free 1st time central heating, had a quote and I’ll need to contribute £2k, the boiler they suggest is Worcester 2000 30kw, however they only offer it with two year warranty, has anyone had this extended and if so how much did it cost, most boilers are 5 to 10 years warranty now.

Have a read of this:

Boiler manufacturers are hesitant about offering extended warranties on boilers fitted under Eco schemes. For example, if the boiler is being fitted to your existing system will the installer be carrying out a system flush which includes or the radiators. Will they be fitting a filter to the system? My advice: contact the Worcester Bosch Customer Support helpline.0 -
Thanks, I’ve had read, mine will be a new full central heating install so hopefully will be installed correctly by WB registered installer. They may charge to extend the warranty though, I need to factor that into the cost, I’ll try calling WB0

If you are using an accredited WB installer then he should be aware of the following:

The standard boiler warranty is 5 years extended to 6 years with a filter. My advice, 1, check that the installer is fully accredited by WB and, 2, get two other quotes.
All that said, the boiler warranty may be limited by the Eco Scheme.0 -
Thanks, I've found out the Eco grant reduces the warranty to 2 years form the normal 5/6 years. the option you have is to take a plan with them (D&G) for £17 per month after two years, however this does include the annual service which I suppose you would need to pay for if you had the normal 5/6 warranty. Its just another cost I need to factor in if the Eco grant is worth taking or not, so far it's only about £700 cheaper than a local installer.0

My advice, FWiW. Ignore D and G for the warranty period and use a WB engineer to service your boiler. You arrange this by contacting WB. The guy that comes out will have all your boiler parameters set in a laptop to check that the boiler is performing to specification. Two services on, WB has changed the heat exchanger; the syphon and the fan on my new build boiler without me asking. Given the faults to date on my boiler, I am not sure that I could recommend WB. Personally, I would go for an Intergas boiler. They are used widely in social housing situations because they are reliable; they have very few moving parts, and are easy to repair.0

I rejected WB for a new boiler because you had to jump through hoops to get the 10 year Warranty, one of which was it must be fitted with WB thermostatiic controls which are an unknown quantity, as against the likes of HoneywellFrankly a 2 year warranty on a high end boiler smacks of the installer setting up a deal, doing the job and then washing their hands of it0
