What’s going on with this call back?
Can any members explain something.
I’ve recently received a series of calls both to my landline and mobile; the calls are coming from an 07418xxxxxx number.
Numbers I don’t recognise I’ll not answer but do a call back. That’s what I’ve done with this number: on the mobile it will ring once and then cut itself off, the landline will say something like this number is not recognised.
My first thoughts were a cold call but it rang to long for that, so I’m guessing that’s not the case.
Can anyone give me an idea as to what might be happening, what’s going on?

Ignore it. Block it/report it as spam and move on. Don't call any numbers you do not recognise, they may be spoofed.

Google the number and see how many times other people have done a check on it and possibly established the nature of the call.
Either way, do as suggested by Neil Jones above.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I Googled and came up with comments like this
‘ The scammer who called you from xxx07418340118xxx is an 𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗭𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗥. They usually pretend that your Prime account will be cancelled, or that there was an unknown transaction in your account.’
As I didn’t answer the call they got no information from me. Hopefully this will assist others and thanks to those who replied. I certainly wouldn’t give my card number over the phone0 -
Why would you call back a number you don't recognise? That's one way people get stung with premium call charges.0
