I know if you receive WTC as of beginning of March you will be eligible for the 500 one of payment. However I am confused as when I started claiming anything it was via new Universal Credit. Does this mean you are not eligible if receive Universal Credit
Thanks
Thanks

Universal Credit has a higher rate than before at ~£20 extra per week. This will be until the end of September IIRC, which works out at an extra £500 in total (compared with the previous rate without the extra).kevsmt5 said:I know if you receive WTC as of beginning of March you will be eligible for the 500 one of payment. UC and WTC are 2 completely different benefits. As it's UC you're receiving then you won't be entitled to the £500 one off payment.

Well according to online Universal Credit replaced all other tax credits. So technically it is the same.0

Yes, it's replaced tax credits but they are not the same benefits because they have different criteria. As you're receiving UC then your standard allowance has been increased by £20 per week until September.

It WILL be replacing. Hasn't fully yet, it still is a separate benefit that many people still claim and will until the government move them across.kevsmt5 said:Well according to online Universal Credit replaced all other tax credits. So technically it is the same.1 -

But it hasn't fully replaced it otherwise some wouldn't be still claiming it.1

So when I first applied for Universal Credit in September last year. Will anything I was entitled to have included 20 extra a week and will continue until September. Or will this be 20 extra a week from April ?0

To be clear. UC has replaced Tax Credits for all new claims. There are however many existing claimants still receiving Tax Credits.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.2

The extra money has been added to the standard allowance, which has been automatically increased since April 2020 and will continue until September 2021.
