I guessed it was HSBC when you said you were on hold for 3 hours.holz81 said:I heard nothing from the bank (HSBC) until the refund appeared in my account and then nothing more until they said they would take the money back off me.

Unless you contact the bank as requested on the letter they will take the money. Try phoning first thing when the phones open. There is likely to be less people phoning then.0

What date in April were you supposed to fly?
What date in August did you submit the claim to your bank?
if it was towards the end of April and in early August respectively, you might be within the 120 days of the date the service was due to be delivered. The precise dates are relevant.0 -
No, It's definitely outside of 120 days, I did check. I phoned the number in the letter at 7.59am, message is "our office is currently closed". Phone as the clock ticked on to 8.00, "all our advisors are currently busy"! Wait for an hour before I have to start work then have to hang up. Done that 4 times now. The general number gets an answer eventually, but they say to call the other number in the letter, as they can't help. I think I'll just have to let them take the money and pursue the OTA. But iIll have to psyche myself up to phoning them for a few days first.....0

Complain by email. First there's a written record of it and "Complaining" starts the clock after which you can escalate the issue to the financial ombudsman, if it gets that far.holz81 said:No, It's definitely outside of 120 days, I did check. Whilst it's right the bank should recover money if they've erroneously credited your account with it, it seems wrong they should just grab it from the account and start charging overdraft interest and fees on it.0 -
The bank have asked the OP to contact them. Logic would seem that is to arrange payment otherwise there would be o need to contact them.
So far, the OP has been unable to get through on the phone number given.0 -
Do they have a hat facility.? You could ask them to ask the other department to phone you as you cannot get an answer on the phone.holz81 said:No, It's definitely outside of 120 days, I did check.
