Bought Acer Aspire around 2017 with Windows 8.1. Updated with free offer to Windows 10.
Monitor is an early LED 21” Tv of similar age.
Has barely been used in the past year; but has been updating regularly .
Noticed last year screen went slightly oversize for no obvious reason (Shows 720 50hz on power up).
Late last year, despite overscan could access but found the start menu wouldn’t work - nor Cortana.
More recently noticed audio playlist not working although can access tracks via explorer.
Any ideas ?!

Can you change the resolution to the 'recommended' ?C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten."l! ilyë yantë ranya nar vanwë"1 -
Right Click gives me settings - thought I'd lost it ! ...is on 1280 x 720 as recommended - any other display setting doesn't work

On the actual TV display settings have you perhaps activated a zoom mode or something like that0
-
Hi,have you also lost the taskbar?0
-
No there is no Zoom mode on the TV / monitor..
The Taskbar is still there, the RHS works ok.
Despite the overscan the start menu can be accessed where it goes into fatal error mode. The only thing you can do is power off / back on again.0 -
Does the windows key bring up the start menu?

Windows update (or refresh) time methinks. First see if there are any updates (or new version) oustanding. Windows key+R and type control updateIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

Vanishing start menus can be caused by an account issue.Create a new (local) user account and see if the start menu works in that. If so, the original account has a problem. If the problem follows user accounts then it may be something you have installed on the computer causing the issue.0
