A solicitor will explain all the ins and outs that everyone else has including the benefits side as what you are doing appears to be benefit fraud.2

A solicitor will explain all the ins and outs that everyone else has including the benefits side as what you are doing appears to be benefit fraud. What part of this is benefit fraud? The "deprivation of assets" that everyone's so worked up about? The "deprivation of assets" that I've already said I don't mind if I still get counted as still owning my current flats worth? The demolition will occur in at least 14 years, that's a long time. I said 40-year plan as an exaggeration to how everyone is concerned for my wellbeing in 20/30 years.I didn't say I wanted answers to only focus on narrow criteria, I wanted answers relevant to my question. Why am I not interested in the answer? The answer is to see a solicitor about selling my flat. Everything else is people explaining the potential consequences and risks, that's not an answer to my question about selling my flat. The government know about my separate retirement fund, because I have it from working most of my life. This is why I am not asking for financial advice about my benefits or future care, because I don't want to explain in detail every aspect of my finances. You know who does know all of these things? The people I go to talk to about my benefits. You know why I'm not listening to people on the internet about my benefits? Because I already know professionals that deal with it and have dealt with my case for the last however many years.I'm sorry you are all so concerned about my plans in the future, but once again, this isn't a debate on my motivations or whether or not I should sell my flat to my son.0

I think that everyone here can read very well, and many who can read are quite amazed at how bad your manners are, and how snippy you are being with people trying to offer you advice.mtah321 said:
I really don't understand this? My son will get an answer to go to a solicitor & skip the estate agents. I got the answer to go to a solicitor and skip the estate agents. The other messages are not relevant to my question. Can none of you read?Just ask your son to sell it for you, then you will get the answers you want rather than the right ones from here.

Yes but either way you will have to explain this to a solicitor as they will have to explain the consequences with a full picture you won’t be able to get them to act for you on your narrow requirements. As for benefit fraud if your benefits are means tested and you sell your flat to your son at a discounted price and move into a cheaper flat this will be benefit fraud, this can result in a prison sentence. The DWP is really hot on this at the moment, your solicitor will be duty bound to explain this too you.5

It's strange how people can try to take the moral high ground while playing shenanigans at trying to get benefits to which they are not entitled.ratechaser said:
And I suppose it's equally possible that there are those reading this thread that also made promises to themselves to not let anyone with an undeserved sense of entitlement get away with committing benefit fraud.mtah321 said:You're right, it has. I just made a promise to myself a number of years back to not let any man with an undeserved ego get away with being rude, but it seems this one is far too obtuse to understand. Thank you some of you for your help.
Once upon a time people who did this at least had the good grace to feel some shame about it.5 -
To clarify, if and when I go to citizens advice, my case workers, a solicitor and they say the same thing. I will listen, because they know the ins and outs of my finances and my case. I've also said time and time again, if my benefits stay the same or even reduce, I don't mind. I am not giving my son a discount so I can be counted as poorer so I can get more benefits or cheaper care.If any of the above professionals tell me this won't work, I will gladly not sell my flat at all and simply wait.I am only being snippy because I wanted to know how the process of selling a flat differs when it's at a discounted price and to a family member, and everybody is replying with concerns that I've repeated over and over that I have taken the risks into account and will raise these problems with the correct professionals, who know me and the relevant details. I did not ask for anybody here's opinion on these such matters, because, again, I already know who to contact about this. I already know the process for that. I already know people whos job it is to know the benefits system, and who know me and my case.0

If you don't believe anyone here is "professional enough", why are you bothering to ask anything? 🤔
I think everyone's been really fair and knowledgeable. It's a forum, you post on here, you'll get to hear what people want to say. You don't get to pick and choose. Just smile sweetly, say thanks, and ignore what you don't want to listen to.

Nobody here is a "professional" when it comes to my benefits and my case with that. That's why I didn't ask about that. I really did try to ignore these comments at first, and to simply thank people for their concern, but really, I can't ignore this amount of condescension. If you don't believe anyone here is "professional enough", why are you bothering to ask anything? 🤔

Because she’d potentially be giving away an asset that could contribute financially to herself, and potentially would therefore no longer be eligible for means tested benefits.NeverTooLate said:allypally26 said:Yes but either way you will have to explain this to a solicitor as they will have to explain the consequences with a full picture you won’t be able to get them to act for you on your narrow requirements. As for benefit fraud if your benefits are means tested and you sell your flat to your son at a discounted price and move into a cheaper flat this will be benefit fraud, this can result in a prison sentence.
