I want to sell my flat to my son at a discount.

Indeed, the OP has waited until page 4 before dropping in a rather vital bit of info which probably scuppers the whole plan.*Cherry* said:If the "family home" flat is going to be demolished soon how will the son raise the necessary mortgage to buy it - even at a reduced price? I'm sure I've heard of lenders not being happy with short leases, knowing that the building will be knocked down has to be an even worse risk surely?7 -
Ok and? Whether or not I can or should do this isn't the question. I didn't ask for a debate on my plans. It's not a vital piece of info, because you don't actually need to know why I'm selling it or why I'm selling it to my son. You don't need to know my 40 year plan.

Ok OP, you asked a question and it's been answered so just go away and do it then.1

Has a demolition order been issued?2

No but there are plans put in place to build new luxury flats there. If we keep it, we will get more money or value out of the flat in the long run.Has a demolition order been issued?

Its a very confusing thread.
In one post you say you want to sell to your son to preserve the family home. Then in a later post it is being knocked down anyway.
In another post you say you are 71 but then in another post you say you have a 40 year plan.
Is there an element of 'wind up' going on here?17 -
The OP has asked for advice and isn’t interested in the answer. I feel for the solicitor who will probably explain everything we already have.A separate fund while on benefits! No doubt hidden from the benefits. And also the comment about not letting a man treat them like something. Man hater! Go find a feminist forum!3

And I suppose it's equally possible that there are those reading this thread that also made promises to themselves to not let anyone with an undeserved sense of entitlement get away with committing benefit fraud.mtah321 said:You're right, it has. I just made a promise to myself a number of years back to not let any man with an undeserved ego get away with being rude, but it seems this one is far too obtuse to understand. Thank you some of you for your help.Takes all sorts, but may help you understand why you can't expect responses to focus only on the narrow criteria you were hoping for...3 -
I wonder if poor daughter in law knows she is expected to look after mother in law if required.4
