How to negotiate the best contract with any broadband

Our sky contract has come to an end. We were paying £20 a month for internet and they want to now increase it. Originally they said £28 but they are now saying the best they can do is £25. Went on live chat but they wouldn't budge. Said to email retentions who then spoke to my wife as it's in her name and the woman didn't seem that interested and would only offer £25. Made it sound like she was doing us the favour and all packages have gone up.
We could switch to EE for £20 bit don't really want to go through the hassle and sky have been good. Is there any way to get them to come down in price before we renew for £25. I tried to get my wife to tell them we want to leave if that was all they could offer but she isn't comfortable negotiating as English isn't her first language and then woman didn't seem to care anyway. Should I resign to having to pay £25 a month now?

Maybe have to give in to Sky. I have 3 accounts with them that are all going up by 15%. Yesterday I rang to tell them I was not happy and wanted them to remove the early cancellation charge - they said they would look into any offers and came back and said there was nothing. Today I got notice of increase on my second account - I have just rung and again asked them to remove the early cancellation charge. This time they didn't even look to see if there were any offers for me - they just accepted I wanted to leave after over 7 years with them. Every year prior to this I have got the price down... but not this time. So they are about to lose my third account later this week when I get the final email notification. It seems Sky have changed their loyal customer policy/discounts.0

Start your swap and Sky will come back to you with an offer .See Sky threads on the forum.0

Try your luck with other providers, call Sky back and tell them you are going elsewhere. Decent broadband is becoming more and more difficult to keep cheap nowadays! I work for VM and they can be considerably more costly in comparison to some of the other providers, however I find they are more reliable, faster and easier to speak to. But lots of people have good and bad experiences with all.
