So put some credit on your Skype account? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

2.3$ per minute skape rate. It's not that cheap0

Well, you either call them, as they have suggested, or risk a fine from not paying the VED or SORNing the vehicle. Are there any other choices?0
-
So I guess they don't ask about any forms when phoning that call centre line? Just reg number and payment card?0

just get a cheap phone card and use that, which country you in at the moment.1

The issue here is not your location.
You don't say which country you're in, but travel to the UK is permitted from pretty much the entire world.
The issue here is that you need to renew the tax but don't have access to any of your paperwork, because you didn't take the basic precaution of ensuring somebody had access to your flat before your departure.2 -
I sorned my car by getting in touch with them. I still have the insurance until 29 May. It's with Sainsbury's bank. Does anyone know if they charge early termination fee? In this case, it's not worth to cancel it before expire date.0

A bit late now, but you could have applied for mail re-direction to a family member, and they could have read you the number, or applied for SORN.The DVLA send a "last chance" letter after a couple of weeks, redirection will catch that, and you can use the number on that to tax it.There might be other post arriving that requires your attention, so redirection wont hurt.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

How long do you think it will be before you get back?
While the car is in a garage, at least it is still insured in case anything happens to it.Life in the slow lane1
