Blue Badge

Further to your recent application for a blue badge, the decision to award a blue badge under Personal Independent Payment (PIP) is based on whether the applicant’s condition meets the Department for Transports disabilities criteria as stated below;
Receives the mobility component of PIP and has obtained 10 points specifically for Descriptor E under the “planning and following journeys” activity, on the grounds that they are unable to undertake any journey because it would cause the overwhelming psychological distress.
Or
Are in receipt of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) have obtained 8 points or more under the “moving around” activity of the mobility component.
I’m sorry but the evidence received does not support that you would meet this criteria as your PIP award states under “Planning and following journeys activity that you are awarded 12 points as:
‘You can’t follow the route of a familiar journey without another person, an assistance dog or an orientation aid’
Therefore you will now need to reapply under the Hidden disability criteria and provide expert medical evidence to support your application to include details of what medication you take, coping strategies you have adopted and any courses of treatment designed to help you.
As anyone been through this process please xx

Scoring 12 points for following and planning a journey doesn’t automatically qualify you for a blue badge. My daughter also scored 12 points for this and she doesn’t have a blue badge.
You can of course apply and send evidence to support a claim for her and she will most likely have an assessment before a decision is made.

Understand, as I said was naive. Just wanted to know had anyone been in same situation and what to send. I think E and F could blur with examples and I would like clarity x0

You will need to look at the criteria for you local council BB and see if you think she would qualify. Then you will need to send evidence to support her claim.
I never applied for one for my daughter because I have one myself and she never goes anywhere without me, so it wasn’t needed for her.

To to be honest I only applied to encourage her to learn to drive, to encourage independence. I just wanted examples of what to submit x0

She does need aid, she was assaulted on way to school and now goes nowhere without someone else as petrified. She will not go out as scared attacked again. Hence encouraging her to drive to give her independence. How this aid is interpreted is another matter. But thanks for advice x0
