BT Overhead wires - SIX wires impeding our views!

We’ve recently had Fibre installed in the area and BT have now installed FIVE FTTP wires in addition to the existing copper wire along the front of our property at different spans creating an eye sore and impeding our views (we live in AONB). I’ve raised a complaint but BT OpenReach say they are in there rights to do this. I’ve looked at neighbouring properties and they seem to just have 2 lines (copper and fibre). I’m in favour of upgrading the network but surely BT OpenReach must be obliged to find a better solution? Any thoughts here?

Of course there is a more aesthetic way of doing it and if you paid the very high cost it entails I am sure Openreach would carry out the works.

Hahahaha!!!! Get real! You want better connectivity, there will be wires, pay for them to be channelled underground then.

The rest of the country has to put up with these overhead wires so, unless there are planning restrictions in your "AONB" prohibiting their use, it seems unlikely that Openreach would make a special case for you.

    On our AONB:

that one seems farcical - in our AONB, you need planning for a shed over 10m2 or a satellite dish in certain places. I'm all for preserving the countryside but if rules apply to the average Joe, why shouldn't national companies face the same retractions. Trouble is, if you want the services, there's a price to pay. One of our local villages voted against provision of superfast FTTP as they didn't want poles etc everywhere, and the fastest speed available now is around 2Mb....

The telecoms tower may pre-date the designation of the location which I think is Cannock Chase?; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_of_Outstanding_Natural_Beauty

AONB was setup in 1958, Tower erected in 1963 as part of the Cold War 'Backbone' telecoms system. I would think national security overrode any objections

You could always ask your neighbours to have their broadband and phonelines disconnected and the wires removed, how about your's, does it come in overhead as well or dont you have a connection.
As others have said, you could always have a chat with OpenReach and pay them vast quantities of money to excavate the roads to hide it but I'm sure the disruption and mess that it makes would upset someone else.

Unfortunately you are not actually entitled to a view so you'll just have to put up with it. Wait till the wind turbines come along

Maybe you could get them to paint the wires light grey so they matched the sky
