When in hospital for 9 months got a iPad from vodaphone a paid extra for 50G data because there was no WiFi. Have tried to cancel the data since I got home but can't, I have to wait till contract runs out.

That's what contracts are all about. If the contract had a start and finish then it will run until the end whether that be consumption or time.
What were the terms of your agreement. When you say 50G, do you mean you paid for 50gbits but have only use 30 and now want to get a refund of the 20 that you haven't used or that you signed up for a year with 50gbits but you have now want to stop after nine months even though the contract still has three months to go. It may be even more complex if the contract you had includes the cost of the Ipad as well and you signed up for two years.
More info is needed to understand what you signed up for and what your T&C's say about the contract. Most contracts, including paygo assume that you pay up front for something and if you don't use it all then it's down to you.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I think the OP is saying that they added on an extra 50Gb. Whether they can remove it depends on how they did it. If they changed their price plan then they won’t be able to go back down to what it was before.
