Some valid and eye opening points here, interesting.
As most have said go via Argos.
When I started reading the thread I thought that was nice of the driver to own up, but you know the rest.
I guess the driver did not want it to go via insurance as possibly they'd had previous bad luck, several times and
may have been warned/etc. Like most delivery drivers in cities they are hard pushed.1 -
I'm going off what they do at my work, if the drivers have an accident they have to phone the insurance hotline themselves and everything is then taken care of. They don't get charged or fined personally. Obviously if they were to have lots of accidents in a short space of time they may get pulled in for questioning and or further training.AdrianC said:
Probably not self-employed, but he won't work for Argos themselves. That certainly doesn't rule out him wearing an Argos uniform in an Argos liveried wagon, though.Deleted_User said:Really doesn't make sense, if he was an Argos delivery driver then they would have procedures in place and Argos's insurance would cover it, the driver wouldn't be charged. Sound like it was some quasi self employed courier driver to me.
A friend of mine works in the logistics industry - his company used to run the Argos two-man delivery contract.
And, yes, it's entirely possible that his employment contract puts minor damage onto him.
When Argos was owned by Home Retail Group they did the deliveries in house as a subsidiary, no idea who they use for them now they are owned by Sainsburys.1 -
Def not the small one or the very big one - maybe number 2?AdrianC said:

Do you mean...
7.5t?
~15-20t rigid?
or an artic?
If it was a little 7.5 tonner, it was probably doing a delivery to a house of a larger item - garden shed or trampoline or similar.
If it was a big rigid or an artic, it would have been more likely to be delivering to a store.
Probably none of them will actually be employed by Sainsbury's/Argos directly... Van's most likely. The others will be contracted out to a large logistics outfit.

and it was white with Argos on it, not blue.0 -
By the book, and don't forget to add your premium increases on to the cost of the claim.0

Are you seeing three or four images? I'm seeing four in my post, three in the quoting.Kim_kim said:

It looked pretty big on a little cul de sacAdrianC said:

How do I quantify that?[DELETED USER] said:By the book, and don't forget to add your premium increases on to the cost of the claim.0 -
Just ask your insurer how much cheaper it would be without the claim. Make it clear you are asking for information only.Kim_kim said:
