We bought this 21/2 years ago and has been good till now when  it started shaking at the works end. We contacted them and they agreed that the motor bearings were shot. Where can we get a new motor says I? Sorry they say, you can only buy the complete head unit. So be warned , vax do not supply spares.

    Espares?
They always seem to have hard to find parts for anything and everything.

Thanks, however the part needed is not on their site

Thanks, however according to vax they only supply the complete head units. You can buy plenty of heads, tubes and filters but not the important bit. Been online for a while and nobody does. Did see one on ebay but it had been sold.

I'd never buy Hoover & certainly wouldn't recommend them. They are far from being a premium brand & aimed at the lower end of the market. Vax by comparrison is usually a far better & more reliable bet.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Hoover hasn't been a premium brand since they were bought by candy, your recommendation is out by a couple of decades.

Wasn't old enough to buy a machine at the time (my cousin was, but she didn't even bother gkw), so you're wrong in my case.
Edit - I should have said good brand rather than Premium, I'll give you that

I used hoover as a general name for a machine that sucks dirt off the floor, not specifically a brand, :)
