Problem with Evans Cycles

They are but most bike lights have built in reflectors, so no need for separate ones. I have umpteen front, rear and wheel reflectors, which my new bikes have to be supplied with, but were removed before the first ride. It is also a legal requirement for peddles to have reflectors but it is impossible to fit them on anything other than the cheap platform peddles most bikes are supplied with.Spank said:
I think reflectors are a legal requirement.photome said:Can you tighten the chain guard? A reflector is a couple of quid ( do you really need one ) the gears will most likely be fine once adjusted.
sorting those 3 will probably be much less painful than returning at your expense in the hope , a company not known for their customer service ,will then refund you both the cost of the bike plus postageThe number of cyclists done for lack of reflectors every year is less than one.0 -
I didn’t know that , comes back to buying one for a couple of quid. I have a few kicking about in a box in the garage ,as I suspect do most cycle ownersSpank said:

this was a 2 man delivery team. id have too arrange that. I just want my bike fixed. id rather it be fixed than returned. I bought it because I want it.Barny1979 said:Couriers will collect a bicycle.0 -
I have bought bikes online every 3 years since 2010ish. never had a problem before. always set up and ride perfectly.custardy said:
That would be utilising Parcelforce. Honestly, the time to think about this stuff is before you buy.panicproject said:

All Postal charges are at the cost of the customer and we recommend using registered post. Yes, they do.panicproject said: I honestly believe the expect me to send the bike through the post back to them.
You bought from Sports Direct basically. Renowned for not being easy on returns
you have a broken cheap reflector, loose chain guard (I assume it can be tightened) and gears you could adjust.
Biike gears on new bikes will ned adjusted after bedding in anyway, what was the plan there?
the items that are damaged / loose shouldn't be damaged loose. thats the end of it for me. whether its a reflector or a buckled wheel it doesn't matter. this post is about the total lack of customer service.1 -
Then just reject it for a refund and buy from a decent independent bike shop. If customer service is important to you, you need to look beyond the Sports Direct empire.1

A bike is a one man lift. Unless you need help picking up your bike? panicproject said:panicproject said:

I never said otherwise.

You can whine and moan at me about couriers or what should have been.
Or look at it as practical advice.
You bought from a crappy supplier (sadly wasnt always the case with Evans)
So either return under the terms you agreed on purchase or find a solution that works.2 -
Evans sent it as a 2 man job. One man lift or not thats how they sent it. Its a XXL bike with a 23" frame as I am 6ft 7in. Its classed as oversized.custardy said:

So ignoring the throw away reflector, you have two issues that need fixing, the chain guard and getting the gearing sorted. The latter probable just needs adjustment, if so it is not a fault it just needs a skilled hand to sort it (something worth learning, as it will need doing many time in the life of the bike) The former may also be easily fixable unless it is actually broken, can you post an image of the issue?panicproject said:

Your last line highlights the problem, you bought from Mike Ashley who is well known for his lack of customer service , that’s why I suggested fixing it yourself rather than the alternative of paying to return ( your only option it seems)and hoping they refundpanicproject said:
