Where can I find out the latest gas and/or electricity unit price?

Is there any site that lists the unit price for gas/electricity per region/company? Instead of spending ages looking through all the different products on price comparison sites.

Thanks the prices on that site seem more upto date compared to moneysupermarket.
  • No unfortunately this is not a site we are looking for, I would like to find a site that just told us plain and simple the cost of each unit without having to put in post codes, how much we use in a year etc... (I have not idea without getting all my previous bills out!), time consuming and if you don't keep them you have no idea?

I would like a site to say we sell gas at this amount per unit and Electric and this amount per unit and maybe a comparison site to be able to compare, plain and simple, none of this, 'we can save you this... put in all these details...'

Is there one out there somewhere?

Wow a 2 year old thread

You need postcode checker because companies charge different rates depending on where you live plus other factors

You can't just compare one unit price to another because different tariffs also have different tiers (primary and secondary rates) that make it impossible to compare them without taking your usage into account. So you'll just have to fish out your bills.

There is not a linear relationship between the amount you use and the price you pay (unless you are with Ebico).

Subtracting the readings on two bills about a year apart is hardly time consuming. If you do find that small piece of arithmetic time consuming then I fail to see what benefit you will take from staring at a table filled with two tier unit prices on some tariffs and standing charges on others in addition to all the discounts.

On the results pages of the comparison sites you can do an "open link in new window" fancy click on the results page to see the unit prices of several tariffs in separate windows.

If you've been with your current supplier for more than a year give them a call...they'll be able to tell you how much gas/electric you have used in the year.
  • I think there should be a place to compare unit prices too. I have been to each
site to compare and its amazing how different the savings are compared to the
price compare sites. After all its the unit prices we need to check. I have found
a better price doing this comparison than by looking at the spend per quarter/year.

Why? Please share your innovative arithmetic-shattering axioms.

How does the bizarrely disparate discounts for direct debit, dual fuel and online management gets compensated for in your scheme? In particular,
how does EON's FixOnline 5 fare?

Tier 2 Elec 10.71p, Gas 3.40725p, but then
    DD 6% + DF 2% + OL 17.5% = 25.5% Discount
so actual pay rate Elec 7.97p, Gas 2.5384p inc VAT.

The reason for postcode is because not all suppliers can supply all areas,
and some areas have higher infrastructure costs, which are reflected in the tariff you get.
