in Water bills
Our household consists of 2 people in a 4bed house and we use 511lts/day, but Northumbrian Water say that Similar households to ours use 143lts/day and the Money Advice Service say 110lts/ day. My question is, are the Northumbrian Water and Money Advice Service figures realistic and is our usage really about 4 times normal?

Size of house is not relevant with water consumption. The average consumption in UK is 50 cubic metres(m3) per person, per year. That is 137litre a day, so for 2 people 274 litres a day. That said, many on this website say they use much less. This link gives more detail.https://www.ccwater.org.uk/households/using-water-wisely/averagewateruse/

We use 250 litre per day with 2 people so average. You would be high users. All depends how you use water and what sort of appliances you have

Or a leak could be in the house. An overflowing cistern leaking silently into the toilet is the usual culprit. The problem is that it can be intermittent, after one flush it leaks, flush again and it can stop leaking.
