whether horses grind their teeth on wooden fences and how to disuade them (mix diesel into the fence paint).

The windows - the double glazing was on it's way out and really draughty. The vendors had wooden blinds so I didn't look close enough.
The state of the carpet under rugs - I was going to replace eventually but hadn't realised until moving in day how bad they were
Not one which bothers me, but others always suggest checking the direction of the garden so you know where you'll get the sun4 -
Availability of fibre internet. Silly me, I assumed that because everyone else I'd lived in London had it, it would be available here, too... and no, it is not. (Over the road has it! Two doors down has it! But my particular block of 31 flats? Nope.)4

The state of the drains. Not included in a standard survey but a real pain if they go wrong.
Local planning applications.4 -
Ditto. We discovered a huge potential problem which we've managing to cope with now we know about it. Could've been disastrous. And it will mean thousands spending at some point in the future.princeofpounds said:The state of the drains. Not included in a standard survey but a real pain if they go wrong.

Another one for drains here!Never had a problem in our old house and so didn't bother following up with a drains survey. Thankfully only surface water drain problems ... FOR NOW. It's a big mess down there and our extension is built over the top duh!2

Not looking under a poster affixed to a bedroom cupboard door when they didn't have posters up anywhere else in the house. When we moved in, no poster but a smashed in door.3

finding out we're in an AONB and seem to need planning permission to do anything....1

We checked internet speed and wether we could get milk delivered. They were two really important ones for us!
Otherwise I don't think there is anything else we wished we had checked.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1
