Dash Cam Installation
Options
Hello, I have a Nextbase Dashcam which I bought from Amazon a while back.
Who I could get to fit this in my car so that the wires are hidden and nicely tucked away?
Would a mains dealership offer this service or would I need seek a specialist garage?
I asked Halfords but they said they can only install dash cams that were purchased from them directly.
Thanks.

You could do it yourself ! not the hardest job on the planet . You can ask an independent auto electrician for a price to fit it ,should take about two hours .0

Plenty of content on Youtube about fitting a dashcam and hiding the wire(s). As Ganga writes, it's not too difficult.

As mentioned, fairly easy for a novice to do if you're planning on just connecting to a 12V socket. You can push the cable up above the roof lining along the top of the windscreen, then down or across the A pillar and then place it behind the rubber on the door trim, under and behind the glove compartment and toward your socket. A car trim pry tool (you can get kits cheaply on Amazon) is great for pushing the cable in behind trims.0

Not for an average car (if such a thing exists) that has an accessible fuse box inside the vehicle fairly close to the front bulkhead..
I fitted mine in about 20 minutes and Halfords fitted the one in my wife's motor and this took them about 15 minutes from start to finish and in both cases, the wiring is tucked away behind the trim and apart from a couple of inches between the camera and the roof, it's totally out of sight.1 -
As already mentioned get a car trim pry tool and look on YouTube for video......depending on car it can an easy job0

I used a trim removal tool and managed to hide about 95% of the wire. I went from the cigarette lighter, under the passenger seat, under the B post, under the headlining above the top of the door and again where the headlining meets the top of the windscreen. I have my cam just behind the rear view mirror so the wire is visible just there. Buy a tool and have a go, you can literally just push the wire out of sight 1cm and that’s enough0

If you're really desperate and out of options, after checking the connection, you could always buy cheapest one from Halfords and have them fit it, then plug yours in.0

find a local auto electrician he will come and do at your house, ask for quote first, dont go to main dealer.0

Can't imagine why anyone would permanently install a Nextbase DashcamAll such dashcams are large with viewing screens built in, essentially like conventional digital cameras. If you leave one on your dashboard you're just advertising it to thieves who will smash your windows and steal it. No different to the older Sat Navs.Far better to get a very small dashcam that does not have a built in screen like say the Mobius Action Cam which is smaller than a matchbox and can be tucked under your sun visor and easily removed and carried in the pocket when you leave the car. With a decent SD card in it you can get 10 hours of continuous looped recording at full HD quality, 30fps.0

A local garage can do it, should take an hour max. I installed mine using tips from YouTube. You would need access to your owners manual to understand which fuse to tap into.0
