I bought the lux from Michael... Jake's partner,  I've just always dealt with Michael.
I also bought 1 pylontech last year as I had 7, and wanted to have 2 equal banks, and I also bought two pylontech from them a year or so previously.

I always forget to check back on navitron, I guess because there is less activity there

  • Anyone know where to buy aeboet or aoboet batteries - no-one seems to have heard of them!

Sorry, all I know (from reading this forum) is that they're almost identical to Pylontech but not compatible and twice the price!
Who did you get your Lux from? Can they supply more batteries?
Alternatively, is there a MSEer with Aoboet who wants to switch to Pylontech and would sell you theirs? Or vice-versa?

Edit to add: if you're feeling brave they're available direct from China on alibaba.com ...

You could try here ...... https://homeenergygroup.co.uk/product/lux-power-single-squirrel-pod-2-4kw-battery-storage-system/

Not sure if they sell them separately from the "squirrel pods" though ??

Lux came from Contact Solar - I'm sure they will supply me, at a price! Alibaba lists the manufacturer who say they have an exclusive distributor in UK and they have asked them to get in touch with me - I've been waiting 1 week! The 2 batteries that I have, appear to have been originally sourced from Infinity Renewables (It is part of the battery history) - however, they say they have never heard of them..... I'm willing to do a swop as you suggest - otherwise, if I just go Pylontech the Aoboet are wasted...  Anyway many thanks
  • Resurrecting this thread as I have an installer coming the tail end of this week to give me some ideas and quotes on a Lux system with batteries.  He initially asked me why I wanted Pylontech over aoboet and I'd stated the reasons both from this and other threads of similar nature.  I have a few question:

    1) Has anything changed over the past few months with the Pylontech choice? I still don't seem to be able to source aoboet from anywhere, whereas the Pylons have several UK distributors.
    2) With US3000C stated at 95% DoD (not something I'd be pushing daily, but good anyway), are these compatible with the Lux Inverter/Squirrel pods and if so, is there a limit on how many you can add?
    3) My thoughts on install to keep the costs down are to get the installer to fit the inverter and a single (ideally US3000C) battery, then to purchase a further 3 batteries and add them myself when I have the funds.  Any issues doing it this way? (Note: I'm reasonably confident around domestic electricity)
    4) As I'm looking to use the Go 4hr window to charge and then discharge throughout the day (No Solar), is it worth considering going down the route of 2 Squirrel pods in parallel with 2 batteries on each to increase charge/discharge levels?

  • 1. No change,  you want pylontech
    2. Yeah fine, theoretical limit of 8 per inverter. I currently run 5x 2000 on one inverter and 3x 2000 + 1x 3000 on another inverter
    3. No issues at all, they are modular, and come with the wires to do it.
    4. You need 3 batteries to get the full amount from the inverter.
    Not convinced about squirrel pods.
Lux let's you set charge and discharge, I currently charge mine on the 3 hour go faster window, if you have no solar, you can just charge the same amount every singl nIght really

Thanks for the info, I thought squirrel pod was for parallel inverters?  Can you do that with the other models too?  What are the differences between models?   Leads me to think is it worth getting a Lux with solar in case I add it in the future?

I misunderstood then, I thought squirrel pods were for monitoring when leccy is cheapest, so you decide when to charge on agile.

Definitely don't need them for parallel,  as I run parallel lux and don't have squirrels

Edit. Models are lux ac and lux hybrid.
The hybrids run solar through them, the ac only charge and discharge when they are told do, either by monitoring solar output export or by charging on a set time

Does the squirrels have better individual charge/discharge ratings than the others?  or is it purely for the agile functionality?  If that's the case, I might as well future proof myself and go with the solar ones with battery.
