Help with car garage

Hello,
my Volkswagen EOS had a service and MOT on the 8th of February 2021 and was told I needed my drive shaft repaired, and I did so.
Exactly two weeks later I was driving along an A3 road when suddenly my gear box stopped working and there was a lot of loud noises and it was actually terrifying, I called the RAC and they informed me the drive shaft had come loose and all the bolts had fallen off. The same drive shaft the garage I took the car to had “repaired”. I had the car towed back to the original garage as it was the closest garage and also because they were the ones who originally fixed it. I was furious because it took them 4 days to even look at my car, and they then told me that because of the vibrations of the drive shaft coming loose the gear box now had a hole inside it.
I am furious they won’t accept any responsibility snd are charging me around £900 to fix this. I have had the car for two years and they are saying it’s my fault it happened because they think I’ve had the gear box taken out and engine take outbefore which I haven’t. I know nothing about cars so I’m finding it very hard to fight this. The problem is I really need my car - they’ve held onto my car for 2 weeks now and I haven’t been able to work or earn money. If anyone had any advice I would really appreciate it !
