Car repair shop didn’t fix car properly

Hello, I recently had a MOT and service on my VW EOS 2007 plate, I was informed by the car repair shop that the front drive shaft needed to be replaced and of course I said go ahead and change it... two weeks later I was driving along a 40mph zone and suddenly all the screws came out of the drive shaft and my car completely stopped working and I crashed into a pole.
The car repair shop arnt taking responsibility and I don’t really know what to do seeing as it was the part they said they had changed.

You will need to get a report from a qualified person and present it to the repair shop.  If that doesn't work you may have to go via the small claims court.

  • I have a report from the RAC will that be enough ?

It may be, it depends on the report, the RAC offer reports of differing levels, some of which are designed to be used in court.

Also, did the loss of drive power directly cause you to crash, eg. you lost the ability to accelerate/power the car forward, did the drive shaft drop and embed in the road, causing the car to veer into the poll, or was that not directly attributable?

Surely your insurance company will look to claim from the garage if it resulted in a crash?

A driveshaft coming loose will just mean you lose power - they don't affect steering.
They're liable to re-attach the shaft, but if you panicked and crashed they aren't liable for this.
