I wasn't on the original list, I only got put on in December after speaking to my GP, as I passed under the radar, so spoke to them regarding my medical history to help get prioritised for the Vaccinations.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, he was called in for his vaccination 3 weeks ago because he is on the list, there was no issue with that. Its just work saying that he is classed as being 'absent' and so wont get paid as he does not have the covering letter. When they sent the last letter out he seemd to get it late but at least it arrived.
Its just so frustrating that there is no one you can ring or contact to find out why the letter has not arrived.

I stand to be corrected, but as far as I'm aware shielding never meant that you were entitled to anything other than SSP from your employer, and that only lasts for 28 weeks  - some employers chose to furlough shielding staff but ther is no obligation for them to do so.

The GP sends the patient details to put him on the CV list so can his GP confirm he should be on the list , and if so can he send details agin since he has been missed?

The employer may be choosing to pay them rather than SSP upon evidence of Shielding perhaps?

Can't he ask his GP for a fit note and then send that to his employer?
  • If he is under hospital/ consultant care they may be able to help.

Depends on the company you work for. He is very lucky in that he gets full pay. He has to use 1 weeks holiday pay in every 4 weeks of shielding but is so much more fortunate than many others in that respect.

I've been 'lucky' that we have not been allowed to open for the vast majority of the time when shielding has been in place, so I have automatically been furloughed for that reason rather than for being a shielder.  When shielding paused last summer, I went back to work two weeks after we were allowed to open which was two weeks before that stint of shielding paused. The November shielding coincided with the November/December shut down and ditto the Jan to now shutdown, unless they extend shielding beyond the end of this month, I'll be returning to work way after the shielding guidance ends (we can't open until May 17th).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
