Nationwide Home & Contents Insurance

Having received a renewal notice for £978.76 which is £88.62 more than last year, I contacted Nationwide to ask if they could negotiate on price before I started comparing the market. I had renewed my policy with them every year for 30 years. Very nice Neil put a quote together based on a new policy, like-for-like, and came up with a total cost of £572.61, saving me £406.15 - and they don't charge interest on paying monthly by direct debit over the year. So I'm feeling very happy about that!

  • That’s still very high. My Home and Contents insurance is £240 this year. That’s for a large 4 bedroom house with 3 reception rooms,  bathrooms,  garage and large garden. This is first time I have stayed with same company for two years as they offered the best price for the cover I wanted.

OP pays more than I pay for building, contents and car insurance.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • I suppose it depends on whether it’s a listed building, thatched or other non standard construction, history of subsidence, history of flooding and also whether there are any high value contents individually specified on the policy. Unless the OP comes back and tells us what the policy covers we will not know if this is good value or not.
