Is the OP in the UK ??

Barclays can do cards in their branches. I had one done for me when they messed up with my card and I was away from home. Metro do as well but mine came through the post as I opened online.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Yes I am in the UK. Passport wanted as I'm moving for one, second reason was paying by transfer.

Who wanted to see the passport? What kind of payment is "moving for one"? How was the transfer made, by whom? What was the approx. value of the transactions?Afourteen said:Yes I am in the UK. Passport wanted as I'm moving for one, second reason was paying by transfer.0 -
I think the OP meant that one (the first) reason they wanted the passport was that the OP was moving.colsten said:

But I don't think that explains why.0 -

Oh I see. When requesting a change of address, banks may well ask for confirmation of ID. Official photo IDs - passports or UK Driving Licences - are generally asked for, so the burden of verifying the authenticity of the photo ID doesn't fall on the bank but on the passport office or the DVLA. The DVLA are increasingly relying on passports as well and can now use your photo from a biometric passport.General_Grant said:

Afourteen said:..... Reason I'm asking the question is twice this month I've had to produce my passport along with bank card to conduct transactions as they needed photographic identity also.
If you mean you needed your passport to prove ID for change of address, that's not a debit card transaction. So, if that's what you're saying, it wasn't two 'transactions' just one.Afourteen said:Yes I am in the UK. Passport wanted as I'm moving for one, second reason was paying by transfer.
If the second example - the 'transfer' - was to do with moving house (authorising house sale payment?) then additional Id checks/authorisation might well be required.
Tell us a bit more about these transactions and things might be a bit clearer.0
