Open Reach to dig up and remove flag stone paving.

Hi all,
I just got quite an alarming call this morning from Open Reach telling me that they need to dig up and remove the block paving so I can get a broadband connection.
I am basically moving my connection in my rented place to my new house but to do this means some work to connect underground at the new place.
Do they have to replace the flag stones - and fix any mess they make?
On another note, like most others, I have to work from home and the date for connectivity has been given as the 7th of August. Since I move on the 17th April how can they leave me with broadband for so long?
Thanks

Yes they normally replace .Covid has restricted work for Open Reach .NO BB use a mobile dongle .Can you give us a clue as to why they need to dig up ?1

I'm guessing its because the cabling is underground and not over head. Not all of us have the benefit of pole mounted access
If there is no existing BT copper to the house (perhaps there was only Virgin there previously) or they are installing FTTP then they have no option than digging up the road, footpath, drive or garden to get service from the street to the premises.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
they usually take a photo before they start, once they finish the work they replace all the stones and clean up any mess they take another photo to prove they left it in the condition that they found it in

Thanks sorted now. I will tke the copper option in the short term and then maybe look at the FTTP later.0
